| I was thinking about this the other day. My guesses would be: 1. Run multiple engines through life testing at various RPMs and determine which max RPM will still meet reliability goals for component wear and failure. 2. Run multiple engines through short duration high RPM testing and see what max RPM will result in component failures. 3. Run the engine at high RPM, detemine at what RPM the engine destroys itself, and subtract 2000 RPM.
